Therapy for Therapists

The big question is; “Who helps the helpers?”

After my own experience of burnout and overwhelm within a system that wasn’t working for me, I left a job I loved in Community Health to focus on balance. I believe our clients deserve healthy therapists. I was surprised by the amount of mental health professionals within Washington that reached out for therapy. It made sense though and I answered that question. I will help the helpers. I noticed that therapists were uncomfortable in therapy and expressing shame for needing support. They expected their lives to be perfect. I wanted to shout from the roof tops to all therapists, “You matter too.” Investing in your own therapy is wise. It’s healthy and it really is an investment in yourself, your family and your clients.

Your health, mentally, emotionally and physical is crucial to the well-being of those around you including your patients and your therapy team.  Everyone needs support and even the best therapist needs a safe and confidential space to express their own thoughts and feelings and address their own mental health needs.

Burnout and Compassion Fatigue

It is common for therapists to face challenges from the continuous exposure to the suffering of others. When you add the long hours and demanding pressures of the field some therapists feel like they have to leave and sacrifice their career or sacrifice their well-being.

Burnout and compassion fatigue are not easily fixed by self-care alone. Exploring root causes, identifying systems and environments that impact daily living are essential to the healing journey.

As a therapist myself, I understand the unique pressures you face and am here to support you towards sustainable healing and renewed professional fulfillment.

You dedicate your life to supporting and being present for others. Who supports you?

Therapy for therapists at Heart of Grace is designed to meet your unique needs as a mental health professional. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, navigating burnout, struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD or seeking deeper self-awareness, you’ll find a non-judgmental place at Heart of Grace.

Therapists are people too and experience many of the same things our clients do. I have experience treating issues ranging from anxiety and depression to life-transitions, burnout, self-criticism and perfectionism. I specialize in trauma, religious trauma and grief. Sessions are personalized and tailored to your needs as a therapist.

Being a therapist means nearly every day you are the professional helping others navigate their emotions. At the end of the day, you may be exhausted, but still need to be present for your own life. Being a therapist is a beautiful profession, but the burnout rate is high.
